From annual fruits and veggies to native and perennial edibles, at Weary Stone Gardens we are committed to urban self sufficency and using gardening to harmonize the built environment with the living environment.
Our Story
We moved into the property that became the original Weary Stone Farm in winter 2005. Katie had just finished coursework to become both a King County Master Gardener and Washington State Native Plant Steward, with a dream of building a beautiful, edible, backyard oasis aligned with the local landscape.

Brent followed up his position as Executive Director at Secluded Alley Works (SAW) with a role as an Events Manager at the University of Washington. Through the births of our children, and the various responsibilities of daily life, our dream took shape… and then took an unexpected turn.
January 2, 1967 - December 1, 2021
On the day after Thanksgiving 2021, Brent had a massive stroke. He died five days later in ICU, at the age of 54 and a few months short of retirement. His light and passion continue to be a guiding force for the Weary Stone Farm family, and we are grateful to be able to continue growing our business and offering our services to the community he loved so much. A Sacred Passing has been here for us throughout our process of letting go and grieving the loss of our Brent. A Sacred Passing's mission is to guide and assist people towards a more conscious dying experience while honoring individual autonomy. In the community, they work to actively dismantle systems of oppression as they present in death and dying through education, care, and advocacy.
