Newsletter for the week of April Twelfth.

How did we get to mid-spring already? Our very first classes begin this weekend and space is limited, so sign up now!

Spring Containers

Now that the weather is warmer and drier, remember to weed and water your containers. Now is also a great time to start new seeds and plant new starts in your containers, like alyssum, sedums, and other short easy to grow plants that will give your garden more color and add places for pollinators to enjoy.

Saturday Classes

Saturdays from 10-11:30 we will be holding classes to highlight a few of the many things you can do in your garden right now. This Saturday we will be starting greens and annual herbs in mini-flats and you will take home a mini-flat with you to transplant in your garden. Go to our classes page to sign up right away, space is limited and classes will fill up fast!

A Spring Find

We’ve been using free arborist chips for years as sheet mulching between our beds, both for weed control and as path material. We allowed some Prunella vulgaris, aka heal all or self heal, to spread around one of our beds as an edge and morels appeared underneath it this year, discovered by our crew member Alaina! True morels are hollow inside and connected to the stem at the bottom, while the caps of false morels are connected at the top and are not hollow but contain a cottony substance inside the stem.
